History & Overview of Expansive
The first Expansive Workspace launched in 2012 as Novel Coworking. The idea behind Expansive is that entrepreneurs and small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and should be in a place where they can be supported and grow. Today, Expansive has 45 locations in 43 cities nationally, including the Savannah location, which opened in 2019 in the Johnson Square Business Complex.
The historic Johnson Square Business Complex was built in 1911 and is one of the city’s first skyscrapers. It has 15 floors and features a neoclassical design that is still a landmark of the downtown skyline today. Overlooking Johnson Square in the heart of historic Savannah, this location provides clients with convenient access to the financial and professional services of the downtown area, as well as the city’s best hotels and restaurants. The location is two blocks from the Savannah River and Belles Ferry, with easy access to US 17 and I-16.
Expansive’s Workspaces & Amenities
Expansive Johnson Square provides a great sense of community for its tenants and day workers with several monthly events like member lunches and happy hours. This location offers several different workspace options to accommodate a variety of tenant needs from solopreneurs to 20-person teams:
- Smart Suites – Suites have a bigger footprint than other Expansive offerings and are for larger teams. They come fully furnished with desks, office chairs, soft seating, waste baskets, and blueboards. Suites include dedicated collaboration space in the form of either a huddle room or conference room, depending on the size of the suite. Technology is incorporated into all suites with partitioned high-speed internet and biometric door locks. Some suites are Alexa enabled. Lobby signage and a door logo come with each Club Suite.
- Private Offices – Private offices are smaller than smart suites and can accommodate anywhere from 2 – 8 team members. They come move-in ready from day one, with modern office furniture including a desk and chair for each person, blueboard, and trash bin. Officer tenants get access to fast direct fiber internet and WiFi at three bandwidth tiers.
- Dedicated Desks – Dedicated desk clients get their own desk and chair while still enjoying the opportunity to network in this shared private office setting. Like Smart Suite and Private Office Tenants, dedicated Desk clients are welcome to use the center 24/7 with their Butterfly access codes and free direct fiber Express WiFi is included. When a private conversation is needed, these clients can make use of one of Expansive’s two private phone booths.
- Day Offices & Multi-Day Access Passes – For those who don’t need a private office every day, but could use an office one to a few days out of the month, Expansive offers one, five and ten day access passes. Fully furnished day offices provide Access Pass Members with a private office from 9am – 5pm Monday through Friday. Like other Expansive clients, access pass clients get free direct fiber Express WiFi and have access to the 4th floor Community Lounge during the day(s) they are in office.
- Coworking Memberships – Coworking clients are welcome to use the community lounge seven days a week from 6am-12am with their Butterfly box access codes for building access. Like other Expansive clients, coworking members get free direct fiber Express WiFi and have access to the 4th floor Community Lounge.
- Lounge Passes – Lounge passes are for those who want to cowork on one or select days of the month, but not every day. Lounge passes are available for on-demand reservations during business hours 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
- Conference Room – Expansive meeting rooms fit up to eight people and are available for on-demand reservations during business hours 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. However, Expansive clients do have access to book meeting space after hours and on weekends through the Expansive Client App. Meeting rooms book by the hour or by the day.
- Virtual Office – Expansive offers three Virtual Office options including the use of a business address (standard and up), mail receiving (standard), Mail scanning or forwarding (deluxe and up), and 5 hrs of meeting room space per month (premium).
