The mission of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Savannah State University is to assist and support in establishing an entrepreneurship ecosystem to encourage the development of new ventures. The CIE is a catalyst for growth of entrepreneurial innovation through field-based experiential learning and aligning university priorities with economic development strategies for industry and community partners.
History & Overview of Savannah State University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
CIE launched in 2021 as an extension of the curriculum in the College of Business Administration. The driving force for the program was to help entrepreneurs gain access to faculty expertise, coaching, programming, and financial counseling to encourage the development of technology-based ventures. Today the department serves as a test-bed for tech start-ups creating smart products with a lab focusing on 12 primary areas, including:

- Life Sciences Machine Learning Defi
- Healthcare Tech Education Tech
- Hospitality & Tourism
- Logistics & Transportation Tech Gaming
- Agriculture Tech
CIE develops the entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow by providing access to expertise in funding start-ups, refining business ideas, business scaling and building high-performing teams. We connect entrepreneurial thinkers with a business network for mentoring, hands-on training and world-class research to solve complex problems, both locally and globally.

- Classes/webinars on business elements
- Tiger’s Den Pitch Competition – A pitch practice program and competition for student entrepreneurs
- Access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment
- Computer labs and space to work.
